Small bites...

Not going to look at the bigger picture - just going to take smaller steps to the ultimate goal :)

Went fishing with hubby yesterday...

Got the kids off to school...packed the car and off we went lol.

High tide was at 3pm, so lil bro was home for the kids as he is on night shift.

Anywhoo...I won the 'first catch of the day' bet of $10. *yay* We caught 6 HUGE kahawai (hubby 2:me 4) Kids were impressed with our catch when we got home, we had one for diner...god nothing tastes better than FRESH fish!!

I'm now on the look out for a smoker so we can try our hand at smoked fish Mmmm

I still haven't heard from the a$$hole that bought something from me...sent another email this morning...if I haven't heard from him by Saturday I'll just relist and redface the prick(le). I don't care if he knows where I live...LOL.

Another item I paid for LAST WEEK still hasn't arrived, the seller said she "couriered" it out on Tuesday...then when I emailed her last night the the tracking number wasn't being recognised on the website last night, she said she just posted it out on Wednesday - *sigh* then when I called NZPost this morning, they said the code I had was a parcel post tracking number and will take 3 days to arrive, so today if she sent on tuesday or monday if she sent it on wednesday - how bloody hard is it for sellers to just be honest? My payment was showing LAST week...and yet she only managed to post it out on Wednesday?? Not really good enough if you ask me, she could have let me know...I didn't hear from her till Wednesday...and it's a big ticket item...*sigh* Fingers crossed...

2pm: I should have a nap, but I'm not and I don't even know why I'm not going to have one. Sure enough as soon as the kids get home I'll be really really tired lol.

So I am super keen to go on another 'Budgeting Journey' :) I don't NEED to - but I SHOULD!! I don't even know how much I spend on groceries each week cos I've stocked up on so much food, that if I was able to keep myself away from the super market - we'd have enough food/supplies to last a month!

I just can't stop stocking up! It's an ADDICTION!! I saved hard last year and cashed myself a new chest freezer - well it's chocka-full of food! meats...veges...cheese, surimi, bacon...home cooked meals...The cupboards are full of all the basics...

Problem now is, that I can't stay away from the supermarket! I have to go in each week, at least twice to buy fresh ham for the kids lunches and I come home with wayyy more than sliced ham!! I'm addicted to going to the supermarket every week to see what's on special...lol!!

There are THREE main things I really want to focus on this year - and that is...:

*Getting down to a goal weight of 80kgs (would love to challenge myself and get down to 75kg)

*Keeping track of spending, spending LESS each week.

*Being a BETTER mum & WIFE for my family :)

I've made a double batch of basic biscuits this afternoon, half with choco-chips and orange essence, the other I just put a spoon or so of coffee into it...they aren't every sweet...may need to ice them. Will freeze them anyway, for lunches next week - after the kids have had some afterschool of course :)

Tonight I am going to make a list of all the groceries I go through every week - will be a task, but I'll try my best. I'm really interested to know how much I spend each week...I may also TRY to tackle my spending in other ways...I like the idea of giving myself a set amount of 'grocery/housekeeping' money each fortnight (damn fortnightly pays!) and see how that goes. But what's a fair amount? And also, I have sooo much food stocked up - I want to try and use up ALL the food I have already - especially the food in the freezer - then maybe I'll set the fortnightly budget? Hmmm we'll see.
